Geology
Geology is part of a historical science that investigates what the planet Earth was like at different times in the past, but more so a specific science that concerns itself with the origin, characterization, exploration, exploitation and responsible management of Earth materials. A geologist can therefore be regarded as an essential role player within the global community who serves it with advice as to the availability, quantity and usefulness of Earth materials.

Focus of the Research Area

• To demonstrate that novel agricultural uses of wastewater can successfully derived in an environmentally safe manner for a greater societal benefit.

• To study the effect of land use practices on water resource and ways of predicting and mitigating the impacts of these effects

• To better understand the impact the of water resources and drinking water on the health of the rural communities and to develop strategies for the protection of water resources as well as public health in a cost effective way, keeping abreast of international trends and technology.

• To strive towards a bettaffer understanding of the origin, survival and effect of microorganisms associated with drinking water and develop strategies, which allow rapid diagnosis of waterborne infections and their control.
