Our free SIM cards come in all 3 sizes (micro-SIM, nano-SIM and standard-SIM), all you need to do is pop out the SIM that fits your phone. We believe that you should be in control of your mobile, which is why our monthly plans are designed to be a flexible mix of data, minutes and texts.
How To Activate a Giftgaff SIM
- Go to Giffgaff’s website.
- In the main menu, under Our offer, click on Activate your SIM.
- Enter your Activation code or your 13-digit SIM serial number and click on Activate.
- Register an account by entereing your valid email address and choosing a password.
- You’ll then need to make your first payment. You may choose a monthly plan (Goodybag) or to add regular credit. To start with a monthly goodybag, simply select the one that best suits your needs. To add regular credit instead, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select Activate your SIM by topping up.
- Select a top-up amount, and click on Pay by card.
- Enter your card details and click on Activate your SIM.

How do I activate my giffgaff SIM without topping up?
You cannot activate a sim without adding credit or buying a goodybag. Topping up is part of the activation process. The sim card will not have a number unless you activate and top up.
How to activate giffgaff SIM without code?
No problem. There’s a 13 digit code on the SIM itself that you can use instead. Pop over to giffgaff.com/activate for more instructions.
What is the code for my giffgaff SIM?
5555 is the default PIN for your giffgaff SIM. The PIN (Personal Identification Number) can be enabled to prevent unauthorised access to your giffgaff SIM. Both the PIN and the PUK codes are supplied by giffgaff, but only the PIN code can be changed.
How do I know if my giffgaff SIM is activated?
Sim activation usually takes 30 minutes but can be up to 24 hours. Please be patient and keep checking your ‘My Giffgaff’ page. You can also Dial *100*7# to check your goodybag balance, remaining minutes and expiry of your goodybag.
How long does it take for giffgaff SIM to activate?
It can take up to 24 hours for your SIM to activate but it’s usually much quicker. To check this, try switching your phone OFF/ON at different times throughout the day.
Can you activate a SIM yourself?
Android users only: To activate an eSIM-enabled Android on an existing line, you must speak to a Customer Service representative (don’t use Chat). Exceptions: Samsung Galaxy A54 activation instructions. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 – Activate/Set Up Device.
Can I activate giffgaff without paying?
You can’t. To activate a giffgaff SIM card, you’ll need to make a purchase (buy traditional pay as you go credit or a one calendar month goodybag plan) via a credit/debit card, PayPal account or a top-up voucher.
