What is Nationwide Book Token?
National Book Tokens is a currency-backed voucher scheme, and successor to the book token programme, that is available in the UK and Ireland. They are solely owned and issued by Book Tokens Ltd. National Book Tokens are sold and accepted for exchange in almost all UK bookshops, including all major chains.
How To Activate a Nationwide Book Token
Simply take your gift card (or e-Gift card) to the till and use it as you would any gift voucher. The bookshop will deduct your purchase amount from the gift card’s value and give the gift card back to you. The gift card can be used any number of times until all the balance is used.

Why is my national book token not working?
If your National Book Tokens gift card cannot be swiped or read when you try to use it instore, it could be that the magnetic stripe on the reverse of the card is damaged.
Where is the pin on my national book token?
You can check your National Book Tokens gift card (and e-Gift card) value at any time. You will need your gift card’s PIN for this which can be found on the reverse of the card, in the top right corner under a scratch-off panel.
How do I know if my book token is valid?
National Book Tokens gift cards do not expire for 8 years from last use (including balance enquiries) And even if you don’t use your card for 8 years we’ll replace it. If you think your card has expired, please complete a request for a replacement.
