Does a Green Dot card have to be activated?

An activated, personalized card is required to access some features. For instance, when you activate your debit card, you’ll be able to deposit checks, pay bills, transfer money from another bank and more!

How long does it take for Green Dot to activate?

Your temporary card will be ready to use for purchases in the US in 2 business days. You will only be able to spend the funds already loaded to this card. Your temporary card cannot be reloaded, does not have ATM or cash access, and cannot be used internationally. Your PIN can be used for purchase transactions only.

Can you use a Green Dot card immediately?

You can register and start using your temporary card right away. Your permanent card will arrive in the mail within two weeks. If you buy your Green Dot card online, you will be given an account number that you can use to make purchases online or over the phone.
